The environment and beauty of the nearby coastline are Kris's key inspirations. The subjects of the watercolour paintings vary from a simple gum leaf, shell or a sweep of beach to the intricacy suggested by her delicate, yet detailed paintings of tree trunks and feathers. Her love for animals, particularly wildlife, began while caring for injured birds, including a Barn Owl and a Bronzewing pigeon when she was young. She now helps care for a kookaburra, a Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo with a very large personality, 2 Eclectus parrots and an endearing Princess parrot named Jirra.
She has received awards at The Australian Guild of Realist Artists' exhibitions during 2008 and in 2009 received a Certificate of Recognition for consistent quality of artwork. Kris has qualified to exhibit paintings for the prestigious "Australian Art Excellence Awards Exhibition". She has successfully exhibited at Victorian Rotary shows and the Victorian Artists Society. In 2008 Kris mounted a successful joint exhibition at TigerFish Gallery in Torquay with only 3 weeks notice. In 2009 she shared a successful joint exhibition entitled "VIVID:Images of Africa and Australia" with Alison Clark and Sandra Dare at the Aust. Guild of Realist Artists in Camberwell, Victoria, Australia.
Kris is a councillor and member of Wildlife Art Society Australasia, a former councillor of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and remains a member of AGRA. She is also a member of the Watercolour Society of Victoria and Birds Australia.
